Casual Coffee Shop Outfit

I can’t seem to get enough of burnt orange recently, and no, it’s not because I’m moving to Texas this summer, but I guess I'll fit in! Hook 'em horns??

In most places (that aren't filled with UT fans) you’re probably more likely to see this shade of orange during the fall, but I’ve noticed it creeping into people’s spring/summer wardrobes as well. I think we’re all past strict color rules at this point anyway. Does anyone really follow the no white after Labor Day rule anymore? Besides, I think there are ways of styling burnt orange to make it a more summer-friendly color. It’s like the more muted alternative to bright orange.

Over the years I’ve found myself gravitating more towards neutrals instead of bright colors, but I think I’ve found my perfect middle ground in shades like burnt orange, dusty rose, and camel. There’s just something about the warm-tones that I really like. They go with any shade of blue denim which is basically all I wear. Also, I don’t have any good white denim at the moment, but I think it would look amazing with burnt orange!

As many of you know, I recently took the plunge and decided to pursue writing full-time, so I’ve been spending a fair amount of time in coffee shops. I can get down with a Starbucks on the go, but when it comes to a place you actually want to spend an extended period of time in, Starbucks isn’t always the best option. When my photographer friend Cindy and I set out to shoot these outfit photos I immediately knew I wanted to do it at my favorite coffee shop here in Palo Alto, Blue Bottle. Not only do I love the gorgeous space, but this outfit is just the perfect casual outfit you would throw on to go to the coffee shop in my opinion.

Blue Bottle is located downtown in the old Varsity Theater, and you can still feel the 1920s charm of the theater in the design. The interior is shared with HanaHaus, an open workspace, but the big courtyard is my favorite part. When the weather is just right it’s the best spot to sit and work! I’m a big fan of their avocado toast and New Orleans iced coffee! 😋

I'm linking to my outfit details below and a few more burnt orange pieces I'm loving! 🧡 What about you? Will you try incorporating a little burnt orange into your spring/summer wardrobe or is it a strictly fall color for you?
